  • Rope constructions

There are four main rope types. Each of these has a different balance of properties. It is equally important to select the right construction as well as the right yarn.

    1. Parallel Yarn
    2. Parallel Strand
    3. Stranded (Wire Rope Construction)
    4. Plaited & Braided

    Parallel Yarn

    Parallel Yarn

Construction: Parallel fibres with an extruded polyethylene jacket

    Properties

    • High Strength Conversion
    • Highest Modulus
    • Generally Terminated With A Barrel And Spike Termination

    Typical Applications

    • Antenna Guys
    • Mooring

    Parallel Strand

    Parallel Strand

Construction: Parallel strands (braided or laid) with a braided fibre jacket (typically polyester)

    Properties

    • High Strength Conversion
    • Highest Modulus
    • Readily Splicable

    Typical Applications

    • Floating Platform Mooring

    Wire Rope Constructions

    Wire Rope Construction

Construction: Strands laid as in a wire rope. Torque balanced constructions also available

    Properties

    • High Strength Conversion
    • High Modulus
    • Readily Splicable
    • Best Performance in Cycling over Sheaves

    Typical Applications

    • Mooring
    • Dynamic Applications such as Lifting
