OPTI-LIFE is a program designed to predict residual rope life in applications such as offtake hawsers for SPM's and FPSO's, ship mooring lines and towage.  The programme uses loading history and rope type as inputs.  It underpins an automated rope monitoring system that uses load cells for data, providing information on used and remaining rope life and issuing warnings when replacement is needed. By replacing ropes only when necessary, OPTI-LIFE enhances safety and cuts costs that arise from premature but more importantly delayed replacements due to uncertain loading histories.   OPTI-LIFE is designed to be integrated into Mooring System and Line Management Plans.
