There are four main rope types. Each of these has a different balance of properties. It is equally important to select the right construction as well as the right yarn.

Wire Rope Constructions

Construction: Strands laid as in a wire rope. Torque balanced constructions also available

Properties

• High Strength Conversion
• High Modulus
• Readily Splicable
• Best Performance in Cycling over Sheaves

Plaited

Construction: 8 and 12 Plait Braids

Braided

Construction: Single Braid or Braid on Braid

Properties

• Moderate Strength Conversion
• Moderate Modulus
• Readily Splicable
• Excellent Structural Integrity but Softer than an 8 plait Braid
